Need help? After Retrium has been connected to your Slack workspace, just type /retrium help
to see what options you have.
Once youโve connected Retrium to your Slack workspace and subscribed in your preferred Slack channel, the Retrium app in Slack will:
- Notify you when a retrospective starts in a Team Room
- Allow you to view the progression of the retrospective through its phases
- Provide a summary when the retrospective is complete
- Allow you to mark action items as complete directly from Slack
How to connect Retrium to your Slack workspace
Follow these steps to enable the Retrium app for your Slack workspace. If your Org has already connected to your Slack workspace, follow the steps: How to subscribe your Slack channel to Team Room updates.
As a Team Room Member
Org Admins can restrict connecting new Slack workspaces. If you see "To connect a workspace to this Org, contact your Org Admin," please contact an Org Admin for more information.
- Go to the Team Room Settings tab in a Team Room you would like to receive notifications for in Slack
- Click Integrations in the left menu (or scroll to the Integrations section)
- Click Connect a Slack workspace and follow the prompts to connect to your desired Slack workspace
- Follow the steps below to subscribe your Slack channel to Team Room updates
As an Org Admin
Org Admins have the option to restrict users from connecting to new Slack workspaces. Find out how.
- Go to the Administration tab in your Org that you would like to allow notifications for in Slack
- Click Integrations in the left menu (or scroll to the Integrations section)
- Click + Connect new workspace and follow the prompts to connect to your desired Slack workspace
- Follow the steps below to subscribe your Slack channel to Team Room updates
How to subscribe your Slack channel to Team Room updates
Once your Retrium Org is connected to your Slack workspace, follow these steps to enable Team Room updates for retrospectives and action items in your Slack channel:
- In Slack, navigate to the channel where you want to receive Team Room notifications
- If Retrium is not already invited to the channel, enter the command
/invite @Retrium
- Copy the
/retrium subscribe
command from your Team Room Settings tab in Retrium and paste it in your Slack channel- Alternatively, enter the command
/retrium subscribe
in the Slack channel and search for the Team Room
- Alternatively, enter the command
- Select the Team Room you want to subscribe to and click Subscribe
- You're all set to receive notifications from Retrium in Slack when a new retro has started, is in progress, a summary once itโs complete, and weekly action item reminders! ๐
No longer want a Slack channel to receive Team Room notifications? Enter the command /retrium unsubscribe
and select the Team Room you want to unsubscribe from.
How to use action item reminders for the Retrium app in Slack
Each week, new, overdue, and recently completed action items will be shared in your Slack channel. Action items will reflect each title, ambassador, and due date. To mark an action item as complete, click the Mark as complete button. Any changes made to action items in Slack will be reflected in your Action Plan in Retrium and vice versa. ๐
How to manage Slack workspace connections (Org Admins only)
Restrict new Slack workspace connections
Restricting new Slack workspace connections will not remove existing connections. To remove an existing Slack workspace connection, follow the steps to disconnect a Slack workspace.
To restrict users of your Org from connecting new Slack workspaces, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Administration tab in your Retrium Org
- Scroll to the Integrations section (or click Integrations from the left menu)
- Toggle the switch next to Only Org admins can connect a new Slack workspace to this Org
- Slack workspaces that were already connected will stay connected, but only Org Admins can connect new workspaces with this setting enabled
Disconnect a Slack workspace
Disconnecting a Slack workspace from Retrium will unsubscribe all channels from Team Room notifications. A notification will be sent to all subscribed channels letting them know.
To disconnect a Slack workspace from your Retrium Org, follow these steps:
- Navigate to the Administration tab in your Retrium Org
- Scroll to the Integrations section (or click Integrations from the left menu)
- To the right of the Slack workspace you want to disconnect, click Disconnect
Uninstall Retrium app from Slack
Removing an app from your Slack workspace will remove it for all users.

FAQs about the Retrium app for Slack
Why can't I invite the Retrium app to my DMs?
The Retrium app/bot isn't available for private messages. Add it to a channel so your team can continue improving together!

Retrium is already connected with my Slack workspace. Why am I being asked to authenticate with Retrium?
If you have not yet connected your Slack user account to Retrium, this allows you to subscribe your Slack channels to Team Room updates, mark action items as complete in Slack, and see yourself tagged as ambassador of action items using your Slack user account.
Why do I see the error "Unable to connect workspace"?
This happens when you try to connect more than one Retrium user account to the same Slack user account. If you need to disconnect the connected user account, please contact support.
